ABOUT THE MANHATTAN SERIES:Between 1997 and 2018 I drew thousands of “Hughcards” [cartoons drawn on the backs of business card], just to give me something to do while sitting at the bar .
This body of work, which I completed in April, 2018, is called “The Manhattan Series”. The title was inspired by my time living in Manhattan in the late 1990s, where the series first got its start, and also Miro’s “Constellation Series”, some of my all-time favorite paintings.
The long-term plan is to eventually get “The Manhattan Series” displayed as a single show, as a single, monumental art piece, in a major museum or art institution. [If you’re a curator (or know a curator) at an art museum or institution, with an interest in showcasing the The Manhattan Series, please reach out: firstname.lastname@example.org]
Individual cards from The Manhattan Series are never for sale.
The Manhattan Series is my magnum opus, and this website serves as the main record of the work.
